Care Guide | Olive Wood, Acacia, Maple & Marble

Our products are made from natural materials chosen for their durability, character and longevity. With the right care, they are designed to be used and enjoyed for many years.

Caring for Olive Wood

Olive wood is an exceptionally hard and dense wood, known for its strength and distinctive grain.

To keep it looking its best:

  • Hand wash only using warm water and mild soap
  • Dry immediately with a soft cloth after washing
  • Do not soak or leave in standing water
  • Never place in a dishwasher

Excess moisture or heat can cause the wood to dry out too quickly, which may lead to cracking or warping over time.

Oiling Your Olive Wood

To maintain the wood’s natural finish:

  • Apply a small amount of food-safe mineral oil using a soft cloth
  • Allow the oil to absorb, then wipe away any excess

How often you oil your board will depend on use:

  • Regular use → oil every 1–2 weeks
  • Occasional use → oil after use or when colour starts to dull

Regular oiling helps prevent the wood from drying out and enhances its natural grain and colour.

Caring for Acacia Wood

Acacia is a durable, fast-growing hardwood with excellent natural resistance.

Care in the same way as olive wood:

  • Hand wash only
  • Dry immediately after cleaning
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water
  • Do not place in a dishwasher

Occasional oiling will help maintain its appearance and prevent drying.

Caring for Maple Wood

Maple is a smooth, light-toned hardwood often used for kitchenware.

To care for maple products:

  • Hand wash with warm, soapy water
  • Dry immediately after washing
  • Avoid soaking or prolonged moisture
  • Keep away from excessive heat

Like other woods, occasional oiling with food-safe mineral oil will help preserve its finish.

Caring for Marble

Marble is a natural stone that benefits from gentle care.

To keep marble surfaces looking their best:

  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent
  • Dry thoroughly after cleaning
  • Avoid harsh chemicals or acidic cleaners (such as vinegar or lemon)
  • Do not place in the dishwasher

Marble is porous, so prolonged contact with liquids or oils may cause staining. Always wipe spills promptly.

General Care Advice

To help all materials last as long as possible:

  • Avoid extreme temperature changes
  • Do not expose to direct heat sources
  • Store in a dry environment
  • Use for intended purposes only
  • Follow handwashing instructions

Natural materials may change slightly over time — this is part of their character and not a fault.

A Note on Natural Materials

Each piece we produce is unique. Variations in grain, tone and texture are part of what makes natural materials so distinctive and should be embraced as part of their character.
